William Stetson had clawed back a bit in this heads-up battle, but then he was on the wrong end of a preflop heads up cooler. Stetson would raise on the button, then call after Jonny Bowers shoved. Stetson showed [8h][8c], but Bowers had one of the worst hands Stetson could see, [9h][9s].
Stetson’s pair and suits were dominated, so he would need some big help, and he got none on the runout of [Js][6s][2c][Qd][3c]. Stetson will take home a huge payday of $119,250, but the first-place prize of $184,395, the trophy, and the banner on the wall belong to Jonny Bowers.
