Interview with Recent Mini Mega Millions Winner Jonny Bowers

By August 18, 2024No Comments

It’s been quite the year for Jonny Bowers, and his latest massive result came here just a few days ago, when he took down the fifth installment of the Mini Mega Millions, winning it outright for over $184,000. We caught up with Bowers after his victory to find get his thoughts on just the latest of a string of impressive results from the British poker pro. Check out that interview below, and congratulations again to Jonny on his victory!

Jonny you just took down the Mini Mega Millions for $184,000 and change outright, how are you feeling?

“It’s pretty amazing. It was really tough field coming down to the last few tables. I just got hands when I needed them and they held. When we got to heads up I was really proud of Will, because he doesn’t play a whole lot so to get to this point is pretty great for him.”

You were cruising for most of Day 3 and then the last level was tough for you, going from chip leader to one of the short stacks. How did you bounce back from that?

I definitely went home cussing my self out a bit after giving away a lot of chips on a bluff. My friends will tell you I’m notorious for blasting off, so it’s nice to have won that here even with that blast-off moment.

Despite your big results this year, as a poker pro, I have to imagine a win like this has to be one of the highlights of the year for you right?

Obviously it’s always nice to win a tournament outright. Even if you get say third or fourth in another event for more money, there’s always a greater sense of satisfaction that comes with finishing on top. But I would just say that poker hasn’t been the easiest journey for me so to be able to bounce back from the struggles I’ve had and to have this year proves that determination does pay off. So anyone who is struggling in poker should remember that these things do come out on the other end, and I’m always happy to talk with anyone who is struggling to help them get through it.
