It’s been smooth sailing for James Sander for the last few hours, but he just hit a huge speed bumb after suffering the ultimate preflop cooler. In the hand, a fellow big stack raised to 400,000, and next to act, the short stack at the table moved all in for 1,500,000.
Sander took a look at his cards, and cold called, folding the action back around to the original raiser. He thought for about 30 seconds before announcing a bet of 5,000,000. Sander sat back in his chair, thought for a few moments, and then announced all in, a bet quickly called by his opponent.
“You have aces don’t you,” Sanders asked as he flopped over [Ks][Kd]. Aces was confirmed by his opponent, [Ah][Ac], while the short stack showed [Jd][10d].
The flop of [6d][4s][2d] brought plenty of action, as did the [Ad] turn. This gave the short stack a leading flush, but also meant a fourth diamond would send all of the chips to Sander. The river was the [5h] however, meaning the aces scooped the biggest pot of the event to 18 million, while Sander suddenly tumbles down to a short stack.
