The last hand of the Mega Millions was straight out of the movies, as Esa Homayun flopped a straight to send Jason Wasser to the rail in second. Wasser was all in preflop with [Kc][4c], while Homayun had [Qs][9d].
A king popped in the window, but the whole flop was [Ks][Jd][10d]. Homayun and his rail immediately started to celebrate, even though Wasser was still live for running full house cards. However, the [3s] on the turn ended things.
Wasser, who started the day with just 5.8 million, less than five big blinds, spun that up to a score of $174,360 per the four-handed deal, while Homayun, whose previous high tournament cash before this was $8,800, will take home $266,470, and will see his face on the next Mega Millions banner. Wasser made it through on the final session of the final day of qualifying and rolled that straight into a historic run.
Congratulations to Homayun, and thank you to everyone who played in this Mega Millions Event. Thank you also for a great series players, we will see you in June for the 2023 Summer Series!
