After both players traded the chip lead back and forth, it was Scott Aulds’s turn to have a huge chip lead heads up, as Thu Nguyen got his final eight big blinds or so in with [7d][5c]. He was live agains the [As][9c] of Aulds, and an ace in the window got Aulds’s hopes up. However, it was followed by the [8s] and [6c], giving Nguyen life with an open ended straight draw. Nguyen needed a nine or four, but it was not to be, as the river was the [Ks].
Nguyen will have to settle for just over $20,000 for first, while Aulds will take home $30,065, and the title. Congrats to both players on their impressive showings.
