It is just past 7 PM local time, as our penultimate Day 1 starting session is now in the books. James Kozono looked primed for a big double on the bubble, as his Ace-Ten was well ahead of his opponent’s Jack-Ten on a 10-10-8 board.
However, nothing is guaranteed in poker, and sure enough, the [9s] came on the turn to give his opponent straight draw outs, and the [Qc] river gave him that straight.
One of the big stacks from this flight is William Shiraev (pictured above), who won our $300,000 Guaranteed Event at the Legends of Poker last year. Also advancing from this flight are Phil Zangwell, Derek Kwan, Safiya Umerova, Stuart Pfeifer, and former WPT Legends of Poker and Mega Millions champion Mike Shariati.
